Living in his village, early on, Shri Balasaheb became aware of the need for modern education. Education being the most fundamental requirement for any kind of development, he embarked on developing educational facilities in his village. He thought young girls and boys, with varied interests and varied talents, need to have educational facilities which are affordable, near home and yet of good quality. He brought his thought to action by devoting his entire life to the Karmaveer Kakasaheb Wagh Education Society which was established in 1970.
This humble beginning has over the years, under his leadership, grown to 35 institutes. His vision was that a girl who has entered the first standard in a school should not stop her educational pursuit just because there is no facility nearby. She should rather continue being a graduate, postgraduate or research scholar with a Ph.D. Thus, there is the scope of going from KG to Ph.D. here. Gradually one step at a time, the campuses of K.K Wagh Education Society span over 9 sites and cover a range of special subjects catering to the needs of changing times. He believed that education should not only provide means of livelihood for a person but it should also satisfy the needs of society.
The institutes of the K.K. Wagh Education Society offer courses in different streams such as Agriculture Science (6 branches), Engineering (8 branches), Polytechnic (6 branches), Degree and Diploma in Pharmacy, Management and a wide range of subjects from Arts, Science, Commerce and Humanities. In order to promote Art and culture, colleges catering to Fine Art and Performing Arts were also established. As school education is the foundation of our education system, K. K. Wagh Education Society runs Marathi and English medium schools along with Universal schools affiliated with CBSE.
The New Education policy of the Government talks about being able to take up Mathematics and Music together. This is presently living together on these campuses. Thus, the vision of Shri. Balasaheb Wagh is reflected in the New Education Policy declared by the Government. Shri. Balasaheb Wagh carefully developed the infrastructure on all the campuses keeping in mind the aesthetic aspects. The lush green campuses have created a proper ambiance for the teaching-learning process and students coming from all over the country enjoy this campus life. The numbers give a better sense of this huge achievement. There are 20,000 and more students walking across the well-equipped classrooms with more than 1800 staff reaching out to them. Thousands of students who have passed out of these institutes will vouch for a better life because of their education. This institute has a culture of encouraging its teaching staff to pursue higher studies and more than 200 took this opportunity and improved their knowledge and skills. He always encouraged the staff members to travel to different places and participate in conferences, symposiums, debates, etc to enhance their personalities. Many staff members were sponsored to visit foreign countries to widen their horizons by understanding the best practices followed by world-class institutes. He encouraged the staff members to take up consultancy assignments and solve the problems of society in general and industries in particular.

Shri. Balasaheb Wagh had wide ranging contacts. He had an innate capacity to spot brilliance and innovation wherever he went. This earned him deep personal friendships with intellectuals in the field of education. This translated into frequent interactions of such personalities with the staff and students stimulating the staff and students to think unconventionally and creatively, also motivating them to keep pace with the changing times. This has resulted in the use of many different ways of teaching-learning methods.
Shri. Balasaheb Wagh’s vision did not involve just a set of educational institutes but to maintain the highest quality of education at affordable cost. He never compromised with the quality aspects and was very keen on getting all the institutes accredited by the appropriate accrediting bodies. His greatest contribution was certainly in making the best educational facilities available to students from underprivileged families. Providing fee waivers, scholarships and enabling facilities like free transportation were his ways of reaching out to the needy students. This ensured that such students do not lose their spark and got the necessary boost for shaping their careers. No wonder the students who passed from the K.K. Wagh education society are seen contributing to society in every corner of the world.
