Co-operative movement is one of the famous socio economic activity of Maharashtra. Following the footsteps of famous leaders in the cooperative sector, Shri. Balasaheb Wagh began his career as an agricultural officer and due to his proactive approach turned the overall situation of sugar factories at Kopergaon and Niphad.Due to his temper and rational approach, he succeeded in increasing the produxtivity of the factory and bringing it into limelight. He also encouraged the farmers to enter the allied business eneterprises such as milk dairies, horticulture and consumer societies for more profitable marketing of their products. This has helped in improving the living standard of thousands of farmers in the region.
He set up number of distillery units and worked with the National Heavy Engineering (NHE), the Distillery Association of Maharashtra and the Federation of Maharashtra Sugar Factories.
